As the Deputy is aware, the State purchase of the Citywest Hotel and Convention Centre in August 2025 is an important part of the Comprehensive Accommodation Strategy for a more sustainable International Protection Accommodation Service system.

Due to the public disorder outside of the Citywest Hotel and Convention Centre campus, access had to be restricted to the campus for residents, staff, and members of the public accessing services including the leisure centre. This measure was taken to protect the safety of all people who may be on the campus.

On the wider campus, there is a restaurant which was not part of the purchase by the State. The buildings that incorporate this business remain in the ownership of the vendor and responsibility for engaging with this business on its operations is a matter for the property owner. The Department's Community Engagement Team has met with the restaurant proprietor as part of our ongoing engagement in the area.

An Garda Síochána is working closely with the Department regarding security arrangements at the campus and this is being kept under regular review.

Public access to the campus remains restricted at this time and there will be ongoing communication including with local community members and elected representatives in respect of any update to this.
