Carer's Allowance (CA) is a means-tested social assistance payment made to a person who is habitually resident in the State and who is providing full-time care and attention to a child or an adult who has such a disability that as a result they require that level of care.

I can confirm that my Department received an application for CA from the person concerned on 24 July 2024.

The application was referred to a local Social Welfare Inspector on 01 August 2024 to confirm that all the conditions for receipt of CA are satisfied.

The person concerned informed the Social Welfare Inspector by phone on the 03 September 2024 that they wished to withdrawn their claim for CA.

The claim was subsequently withdrawn and the person concerned was notified in writing of this decision on 13 September 2024.

To date no review or appeal request has been received from the person concerned.

It is also open to the person concerned to re apply for CA by completing a new CR1 application form. For their convenience an application form has been forwarded by post to the address of the person concerned.

I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
