The Department of Justice regularly notifies my Department with details of persons who are subject to deportation orders. Persons who are subject to a deportation order are ineligible for social assistance payments. They do not satisfy the habitual residence condition as they do not have an unqualified legal right of residence in the State.
Only details of the relatively small number of cases where payments have been stopped are retained by my Department. The overall number and details of deportation orders are a matter for the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration.
I trust that this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
