My Department's pay budget operates on a whole-of-Department basis and as such there is not a specific or reserved pay budget for the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) which is comprised of Business Units within Heritage Division in the Department. The staff working in the NPWS units are employees of the Department.

To be of assistance, please see in the table below the full year pay costs for the NPWS element of the overall Department for 2021 to 2024 as well as the current year's costs up to 7 November 2025. As the NPWS functions and units transferred to my Department in late 2020 on a transfer of functions, the payroll information we hold for the NPWS units prior to transfer is quite limited. My Department does not hold full & comparable payroll data for the remaining years requested, i.e. 2015 to 2020.

The following pay costs include the salaries charged to the main payroll budget subhead plus those charged to some NPWS programmes, as well as the cost of the staff engaged in various EU-funded LIFE projects.

2021 2022 2023 2024 2025

(up to 7 Nov)
€18,734,687 €21,983,950 €25,482,962 €29,755,370 €29,427,877
