I propose to take Questions Nos. 446 and 457 together.

The Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment provides a range of channels to support applicants and stakeholders engaging with the employment permits system.

The Employment Permits Online Portal is the primary channel for managing applications, including tracking status, requesting updates, and accessing relevant permit information.

For general information, a public phone line is operated by the Workplace Relations Commission’s Information and Customer Service Unit. This service is available Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:00pm (closed 1:00pm–2:00pm) at 0818 80 80 90 or (059) 917 8900. Please note that these officers are not part of the Employment Permits team and can only provide basic guidance based on publicly available information.

Specific queries — including technical issues or questions about individual applications — must be submitted via email to the relevant contact points:

  • General queries:
  • Technical issues:
The Department processes over 30,000 employment permit applications annually. To ensure fairness and efficiency, resources are prioritised toward processing applications rather than managing individual phone queries.

Where a stakeholder wishes to discuss a specific issue or process, they should email the Department outlining the matter. Where appropriate, a member of the Employment Permits team will follow up directly.

A dedicated mailbox is available for Oireachtas members to raise queries where appropriate: .
