As statutory regulation of psychologists has not yet commenced, there are currently no psychologists registered with CORU.

CORU is progressing towards the introduction of statutory regulation for the psychology profession. Regulation will be introduced in two phases. The first phase will see the registration system applying to clinical, counselling and educational psychologists, with the second phase encompassing all other psychology specialisms.

CORU has now published the Standards of Proficiency and Criteria for Education and Training for these three specialisms which is a significant milestone in the process towards regulation. They are available by the link provided: Educational Psychologists- Standards of Proficiency and Criteria for Education and Training.

The HSE has been contacted for information on the numbers it has funded over last five years for clinical, counselling and educational psychologists and officials in the Department will be in touch once received. The Deputy is advised to contact the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science for the number of persons who have qualified as psychologists from Higher Education Institutes in each of the past five years.
