By way of background for the Deputy, Further Education and Training (FET) is delivered by 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs) across the country. There are two ETBs in Dublin - City of Dublin ETB and Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB (DDLETB). City of Dublin ETB is divided in four areas - Northeast Campus, Central Campus, Southwest Campus, and Northwest Campus. While the ETB boundaries do not match constituency boundaries directly, FET is provided for in the constituency of Dublin South-Central mainly by the Southwest Campus of City of Dublin ETB.

There are five City of Dublin colleges of further education in or close to the border of Dublin South-Central - City of Dublin FET College Ballyfermot (Southwest Campus), City of Dublin FET College Crumlin (Southwest Campus), City of Dublin FET College Inchicore (Southwest Campus), City of Dublin FET College Warrenmount (Central Campus), and City of Dublin FET College Pearse (Southwest Campus), and City of Dublin FET College Liberties (Central Campus) is very close to Dublin South-Central.

There are two Youthreach centres in or close to the border of Dublin South Central - Ballyfermot Youthreach and Crumlin Youthreach. Pleasant Street Youthreach is also very close to Dublin South-Central.

There are three Community Training Centres (CTCs) in or close to the border of Dublin South-Central - Liberties Training Centre, Kylemore CTC, and Cherry Orchard CTC.
