131. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the requirements for an Irish citizen who has lived and worked in the United States and is now returning to Ireland to retire and wants to obtain a PSSN; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [60295/25]

In the case of an Irish citizen returning to Ireland to retire, they should apply for a PPSN upon their return. My Department has an online service, on www.MyWelfare.ie, through which a person can submit their PPSN application. Once they submit their application they will be invited to attend an in-person appointment at their nearest PPSN allocation centre.
A Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) helps a person access social welfare benefits and other public services in Ireland. To apply for a PPSN, a person needs to have evidence of identity, evidence of address, and the reason why they require a PPSN.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
