Under Action 5.6 of the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025-2030, I am committed to promoting inclusion and accessibility in entrepreneurship, especially through the Local Enterprise Offices.
Disability awareness training is currently ongoing and is offered to all Local Enterprise Office staff. The purpose of this training is to broaden the understanding of disability beyond visible disabilities, exploring the barriers faced by people with disabilities in a work context and providing guidance on supporting a service user with a disability. The LEOs have also developed online learning supports for people with disabilities who are interested in starting their own business. I would encourage any entrepreneurs to visit LEO website which provides an eLearning course for persons with disabilities who have intentions for setting-up a business or who are already in self-employment, along with information about additional resources.
