In Budget 2025 €.5m in additional funding was secured, rising to €.79m in 2026 for drug prevention programmes and public health awareness campaigns to be developed across the health regions and screening and brief interventions to be scaled up.
€203,000 was transferred to the HSE in 2025 to fund drug prevention programmes and enable public health awareness campaigns to be developed across the health regions.

Under the Health Act 2024, as amended the HSE is responsible for the provision of health and personal supports including those relating to addiction. The HSE either provides these services directly or arranges to have them provided on its behalf.
As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the deputy directly, as soon as possible.
