188. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government in view of Ireland’s forthcoming EU presidency and the Government’s recent briefing to cabinet on visiting EU and non-EU heads of state, if he will provide the planned regional infrastructure investments linked to the presidency year (including in Cork), by county; the details of the way in which these investments will align with the national climate-resilience agenda; and the mechanism by which regional areas will be guaranteed equitable benefit rather than national-seat concentration. My Department has no regional infrastructure investments linked to the Presidency year.

I welcome however, the recent allocation of €5.64 billion under the updated National Development Plan (NDP), published in July of this year - incorporating an allocation of €500 million under the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund (ICNF), for my Department's capital programmes over the period 2026 to 2030.

In line with the approach set out in the updated NDP, my Department is currently preparing its sectoral capital plan that will set out how the Department will prioritise the resources allocated to it under the NDP, and the funding allocations to programmes that meet Departmental priorities.
