There are no plans in the Department of Health to regulate the beauty industry by means of prescribing qualifications or memberships of professional bodies to practitioners.

With respect to products used within the beauty industry, the Programme for Government 2025 has called out the administration of dermal fillers as an area of priority, with a goal to "ensure the administration of dermal fillers is only undertaken by trained healthcare professionals." At present, work is ongoing in this area, and a scoping review of other jurisdictions is underway to gather information on potential options for regulating the use of dermal fillers in Ireland. Once this review is completed, further progress will be made in 2026 to determine, develop, and implement the most suitable option for Ireland. Engagement with stakeholders will be made as part of this work, as appropriate.
