1145. All EU citizens have the right to work in other EU member States without an employment permit. In addition, access to social welfare entitlements are guided by relevant EU Directives and regulations. Once an EU citizen has established legal residence in Ireland, their rights to social welfare are generally maintained in line with those of Irish citizens, and subject to individual scheme eligibility criteria, such as satisfying a means test or having sufficient social insurance contributions.
My Department’s Intreo service provides a single point of contact for jobseekers to access employment and income supports. The service is provided in Intreo Centres located across all areas of the country. Intreo offers an individualised employment support service, provided by employment services officers who meet with jobseekers and work with them to develop an individualised action plan to identify steps the jobseeker can take to support them to progress to sustainable employment. Where a person is considered job-ready they can be supported with CV preparation or interview training and matched or referred to suitable job vacancies. This service is available to jobseekers who are not in receipt of an income support payment from my Department.
Furthermore, JobsIreland.ie, my Department's free online recruitment platform is also available and open for all jobseekers to register, create a profile, upload a CV and apply directly to an employer for roles advertised.
I trust this clarifies matters for the Deputy.
