The school referred to by the Deputy was approved to enter the departments pipeline of school buildings for a project to provide the removal of existing prefabricated buildings and replacement with a two-storey extension consisting of 3 mainstream classrooms, 7 SET resource rooms and 3 classroom base SEN unit and all associated facilities and site services. The project has been devolved to Kerry Education and Training Board (ETB) for delivery.
In September 2025, my department received the Stage 3 Tender Report, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive review from both technical and cost perspectives, in line with the requirements of the Public Spending Code. On 21 October, my department issued correspondence to the ETB seeking clarification on several points, followed by a subsequent communication more recently. We are currently awaiting a response from the ETB.
Communication has issued to the school to keep them informed throughout the process. Once a response is received from the ETB and the review of the tender documentation is complete, officials from my Department will engage with both the ETB and the school authority to communicate the outcome of the review.
