I wish to advise the Deputy that initial approval, under the Additional School Accommodation scheme, issued to the school in question for the provision of one mainstream classroom, 1 Home school liaison teachers (HLT) room (replacement prefab) and the purchase of three SET rooms.
The Department of Education had strong delivery across the school building programme in 2022 with a large number of projects at construction. During January 2023, the Department undertook an assessment of our overall requirements for that year, in order to prioritise the most urgently required accommodation.
Following a review of the accommodation needs of the school in question, it was determined that the accommodation was not deemed to be critical for roll out in 2023. This was communicated to the school authority at that time, recommending the school apply for Emergency Works grant to deal with the issues in the prefab housing the mainstream classroom and HLT room. These works were carried out on the prefab in 2023.
Recent analysis has deemed this modular project is still required and my Department will be in contact with the school to discuss the next steps.
