574. To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of fires involving e-scooters and e-bikes which have been attributed to inferior or non-compliant battery products in each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [57893/25]

My Department does not maintain records on fires involving e-scooters or e-bikes, nor on incidents attributed to inferior or non-compliant battery products.
Responsibility for product safety in Ireland is shared across several bodies, depending on the nature of the product. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is responsible for market surveillance of lithium-ion batteries and chargers sold independently of an e-bike or e-scooter. The CCPC has advised that it does not maintain a list or dataset of fires involving these products.
More broadly, relevant market surveillance authorities continue to monitor consumer products for safety risks and take appropriate action where necessary. Referrals of safety concerns from the public and other stakeholders play an important role in informing these efforts. Any consumer who has a concern about the safety of a product is encouraged to contact the relevant market surveillance authority, who can assess and take appropriate action where required.
