In September 2021, Dublin Zoo (jointly with Fota Wildlife Park), submitted a request for State support towards the delivery of their separate 10-year capital development programmes and capital grant funding has been provided by the OPW to support these programmes.
These capital programmes were updated in September 2024 and for 2025, the Office of Public Works is providing a capital grant of €2.8m to Dublin Zoo for various capital projects in the Zoo. These projects include a Sea Lion and Penguin Filtration System, Family Farm Upgrade, South American House refurbishment, Cottage orné refurbishment, habitat upgrades and playground upgrades. The Office of Public Works has also provided a capital grant of €1.4m to Fota Wildlife Park for 2025.
