On 18 October 2025, I launched the National Framework for the Management of Endometriosis in Ireland: .
The Government is committed to promoting and improving women’s health outcomes. The Programme for Government commits to continue to expand specialist services in endometriosis. Endometriosis has been recognised as part of the work of the Women’s Health Taskforce and is included in the Women’s Health Action Plan 2024/25.
Funding of over €5 million has been invested in endometriosis services since 2021, including more than €2 million full year costs this year to further develop the services.
The HSE has carried out a thorough analysis of the short term and long-term requirements to build adequate capacity, improve clinical pathways and increase expertise within our endometriosis services. The HSE’s budget for 2026 will be €27.4 billion, an increase of 6.2% on 2025, allowing for expansion and improvement in services and the recruitment of 3,300 additional staff. The expansion of endometriosis services will be supported from the budgetary allocation through the National Service Plan.
