On Tuesday 7th October, over €1.15 billion of new social protection measures targeted to assist households were announced as part of Budget 2026.
The measures contained in the Budget are designed to support the most vulnerable in our society and there is a particular focus on tackling child poverty.
Included in this package are increases of €10 per week to maximum personal payment rates, benefitting people such as pensioners, people with disabilities, carers and lone parents, with proportionate increases for people receiving a reduced payment rate and for qualified adults.
The Budget increase of €10 in the maximum personal rate will bring the maximum personal rate of State Pension (Contributory) to €299.30 per week, and the maximum personal rate of State Pension (Non-Contributory) to €288.00 per week.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
