Earlier this year, my Department issued permission to Cork ETB to enter negotiations with a prospective landlord in respect of a facility for Macroom Youthreach.

A due diligence process must be completed, which considers value for money, assessment of needs, climate targets and any procurement issues before sanction can be sought for a lease. Cork ETB are engaging very closely with SOLAS on this matter.

Once clear cost estimates are available it is anticipated that formal sanction for a lease will be sought by the ETB.

I assure the Deputy that my Department, SOLAS and Cork ETB are very much engaged on this issue. We are working together to progress a facility that will create a suitable learning environment for all learners whilst adhering to the necessary requirements set in the relevant legislation and circulars.
