My Department is committed to supporting thriving communities across the country through a range of funding initiatives. Over the past three years, my Department has allocated in the region of €13 million in funding to County Longford.

My Department’s funding programmes have delivered significant capital investment in County Longford, example:

  • Under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, €379,170 was allocated for the special needs playground and parkland connection to Royal Canal Greenway Spur, Longford Town.
  • €200,000 was allocated under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme for the enhancement of the existing Granard Greenway through the extension of the walkway and the provision of lighting along the full length of the walkway.
  • €100,000 was allocated under the Community Centres Investment Fund for refurbishment works at Longford Rugby Club.
  • Under CLÁR, €50,000 was allocated to Granard Community Centre for heating upgrade and roof repairs.
