My Department is committed to supporting thriving communities across the country through a range of funding initiatives. Over the last three years, my Department has allocated in the region of €18.5 million in funding to County Laois.

My Department’s funding programmes have delivered significant capital investment in County Laois, examples include:

  • Over €3.3 million in funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) for the redevelopment of the historic Courthouse in Borris-in-Ossory into a multi-purpose community and enterprise hub. The project will provide community facilities and address dereliction to regenerate the village centre.
  • Under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, €500,000 was allocated to the Killeshin Digital Hub for the installation of a digital hub / hybrid workspace to accommodate remote working facilities in Killeshin.
  • €25,000 was allocated under the Community Centres Investment Fund for refurbishment works at Timahoe Community Hall.
  • Over €191,000 was allocated under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme for the River Erkina Community Blueway. The development will consist of the constitution of a floating pontoon and access/egress at Castle Durrow Demesne; a foot bridge on the River Goul at its confluence with the River Erkina; carpark and access/egress at the Woodenbridge; access steps at Boston Bridge.
Details of the thousands of funding allocations my Department has provided each year, across the country, including County Laois, are available on my Department’s website, in tabular form at the following link: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-rural-and-community-development-and-the-gaeltacht/collections/funding-allocated-by-the-department/
