Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) is a commercial state body, established under the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958, chiefly to control greyhound racing and to improve and develop the greyhound industry. RCÉ is a body corporate and a separate legal entity from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
RCÉ have informed my Department that the number of non-coursing greyhounds currently active on the race management system between 14 August and 24 September 2025 ranged in number from 12,448 to 12,640.
RCÉ have stated that 'active greyhounds' are defined as greyhounds who trialled and/or raced in the Republic of Ireland in the 12 Months preceding the relevant date.
