Aviation security is highly regulated at international, European and national levels and all regulated entities, including airport operators, are required to have processes in place for various scenarios, including an evacuation. Airport operators and other aviation stakeholders, including An Garda Síochána, prioritise the safety and security of passengers and staff as these processes are implemented. Airport operators keep those arrangements under review, including in circumstances where they have been operationalised.

Dublin airport has some of the highest standard available security equipment deployed having recently concluded a very significant technological upgrade at its passenger checkpoints. Airport operators security programmes are approved and overseen by the Irish Aviation Authority, pursuant to national and international regulation.
