Regulation 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2017 (Statutory Instrument 173/2017) provides the statutory guidelines for the administration of controlled drugs to patients and only applies to those controlled drugs with a marketing authorisation as a medicine.
Departmental officials continue to consider the matter of the administration of controlled drugs which are not medicines with a marketing authorisation and are not, at this time, in a position to indicate a timeline on the conclusion or outcome of these considerations
