Tackling domestic, sexual and gender-based violence (DSGBV) remains a core priority for this Government.
Under Budget 2026, I have secured a funding increase to almost €80 million to support our national DSGBV agency, Cuan, as well as front-line services working to implement the Zero Tolerance Strategy.
This represents a year-on-year increase of €11.5 million and is a clear demonstration of our continued commitment to addressing DSGBV.
This enhanced investment will strengthen delivery of the Third National Strategy, by increasing refuge accommodation capacity, and by ensuring that services have the resources needed to protect and support those experiencing abuse.
Cuan is responsible for coordinating all Government actions set out in Zero Tolerance, as well as for the provision of funding to front-line organisations that support victims of DSGBV.
While further significant investment in the DSGBV services sector is anticipated for 2026, planning has not yet commenced and will be informed by Cuan's priority objectives for 2026.
