To ask the Minister for Education and Skills for an update on the extension works in a school (details supplied); to confirm if a tender was issued by the end of Q1 2025 as planned; if the target of having the facility ready for the school's September 2026 intake is still achievable; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department is fully committed to supporting children with special educational needs to fulfil their full potential. This includes ensuring that sufficient special education placements remain available for children with special educational needs.
The school referred to by the Deputy is part of the Pilot Schools Public Private Partnership (PPP) Bundle. This contract is being delivered through the PPP process by the relevant PPP Company.
The tender was issued by the PPP Company as planned at the end of Q1 2025. The tender process has been concluded and the appointment of the contractor is currently being finalised.
It is estimated that it can take approximately 12 months to complete facilities of this nature, so It is a priority for all of the stakeholders to ensure construction commences at the earliest possible time.
