If I might first clarify for the Deputy, that my Department's examination concerns the allegations of contravention of Irish legislation that prohibits the carriage of munitions of war on civil aircraft in Irish sovereign territory. These allegations in the most part relate to overflights of Irish airspace.
My Department is still engaged in examining these allegations, the issues raised are complex and require the examination of extensive documentation.
I understand the frustration that might arise due to the perceived delay in completing this work. It is not intentional, but the examination must be carried out to a standard that would support any further action that may be deemed necessary.
