The Summer Economic Statement (SES) was published in July and set out a revised capital ceiling of €17.1 billion, an uplift of €2.2 billion over the original capital ceiling for 2025. This increase in the capital ceiling allows for planned additional spending for 2025 to fund in-year decisions and to further support the delivery of key social and economic priorities.
Of the €2.2 billion of capital funding being provided in 2025, it is estimated that approximately €1.7 billion is required for decisions taken to date this year with respect to:
- Progressing a number of social and affordable housing projects in the Department of Housing
- Supporting school building projects in the Department of Education
- Purchase of CityWest by the Department of Justice
