I can confirm that the properties and sites referred to in his question are not under the ownership of the Minister or Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. Therefore, I recommend that the Deputy engage directly with DDLETB to address the questions raised.

968. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills to detail, for each of the 94 DDLETB sites, total capital and maintenance expenditure in each of the past ten years, by project description, year, amount, funding source (Exchequer/SOLAS/ESF+ or other), and procurement route; and to include a separate line for energy upgrades (e.g. fabric works, heat pumps, PV), accessibility works, and health and safety compliance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department works collaboratively, through SOLAS and with the Education Training Boards (ETB) on the development and delivery of capital projects.

In 2020, a step up in funding allowed for the introduction of a dedicated capital budget for Further Education and Training (FET). Capital investment from my Department to DDLETB, since 2020, is detailed in the table at the link below.

In addition, my Department also provides Devolved and Green Devolved Grants to the ETB sector. This is to support small-scale building works / equipment purchase, including renewal and flexible funding to enhance the operational sustainability of ETB-owned buildings within the FET estate, focusing on low energy. This funding is managed at local level by the ETBs.
