Ensuring that people with disabilities can live lives of their choosing in accessible housing and as independently as possible is a key priority for Government. That is why housing was a key consideration throughout the development process for the recently published National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025-2030.
As part of the development process for the Strategy, my Department had extensive engagement with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage resulting in a commitment to will enhance the effective delivery of the National Housing Strategy for Disabled People (2022-2027) by strengthening the mechanisms at regional level for coordination between the Health Service Executive and Local Authorities to support local level coordination.
It may be helpful for the Deputy to note that for overall policy on housing supports for people with disabilities rests with my colleague the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
