To ask the Minister for Health the reason hearing aids for persons who are deaf require them to make a very significant personal payment in view of the fact cochlear implants are free and both are equally important for different groups of deaf people; if she will consider if more can be done to lessen the cost of hearing aids for persons who are deaf; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
