122. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the status of the independent external review of the chaplaincy service within the Irish Prison Service; the timeframe for the implementation of the review's recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [50720/25]

I am advised that a 14-month review of the Chaplains Service was commissioned by the Irish Prison Service and conducted by the Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice from January 2024 to March 2025.

A copy of that review has now been issued to prison chaplains and to the Prisons Liaison of the Irish Episcopal Conference.

I am further advised that the recommendations contained within the review will need to be fully considered and approved by the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitisation. The implementation of any of those recommendations, once approved, would fall under the scope of the Head Chaplain.
