I thank the Deputy for this question. The design and development of the recently launched National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025-2030 involved ongoing, regular engagement with colleagues across government, including engagement with the Department of Transport.

Transport and Mobility is one of the core five pillars of the Strategy. The Department of Transport is leading on the implementation of the commitments and priority actions contained within this pillar, in collaboration with other government departments, public bodies and transport operators.

We know that for disabled people personal mobility and being able to make seamless journeys in accessible environments and on public transport are critical to their daily lives and active participation in society. This includes transport access to school, to work, to healthcare, but also to social, cultural, and sporting places and events.

Government recognises that transportation is key to the economic and social inclusion of disabled people, and the importance of integrated, universally designed transport networks and services. Our shared ambition is that disabled people will be enabled to participate, on an equitable basis like others, in all aspects of society by providing an accessible, affordable, sustainable transportation system and physical environment.
