The Deputy will be aware that the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 sets out the functions of An Garda Síochána, which include the provision of security services for the State. Under the Act, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of Garda business. As Minister, I have no role in these independent, operational functions.

The Deputy will further appreciate that, for sound reasons, it is not the practice to comment on the detail of security matters.
