Waterways Ireland is a North South Implementation Body established under the British Irish Agreement of 10 April 1998. It is funded by my Department and the Department for Infrastructure in Northern Ireland as Sponsor Departments.
Section 4.4 of the Public Service Agreement 2024 – 2026 commits the parties to the agreement “to remain in process with a view to resolving the job profiling exercise in Waterways Ireland”. Waterways Ireland, in conjunction with my Department and the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, is currently in discussions with the union under the auspices of the Workplace Relations Commission in relation to this matter.
