299. To ask the Minister for Finance if any monies invested on behalf of the State through ISIF/ the Irish Whiskey Growth Fund have been lost for any reason, including liquidation, examinership, cessation of trading, bankruptcy or other; if so, to provide a breakdown of the amount of investment lost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The NTMA has advised me that ISIF committed in 2018 and 2020 to invest up to €25m to the Irish Whiskey Growth Fund. As per the 2024 NTMA Annual report, as at the end of December 2024, ISIF has a commitment of €22m to the Irish Whiskey Growth Fund. The Fund provides capital to Irish whiskey distilleries by way of stock-finance or direct stock-purchasing, supporting the growth of the Irish whiskey sector.

In general, as ISIF’s investments are often undertaken on a phased basis, the commitment figure at a point in time should not be seen as reflective of the amount that ISIF has actually invested to date.

As ISIF is a commercial investor it cannot disclose commercially sensitive information related to its investment in the Fund.
