I wish to thank the Deputy for his question and welcome the opportunity to provide an update on this matter.

Since last raised by the Deputy, in line with the requirements under Government's Infrastructure Guidelines, Waterford Airport has been invited to submit a Preliminary Business Case for its development proposal. This was discussed in detail when I met with Government colleagues, Minister Butler and Minister Cummins and the CEO of Waterford City and County Council on 2 July last.

I would like to assure the Deputy that in line with the Programme for Government commitment to work with all stakeholders to quickly progress this project, my Department will work with the airport in its development of the necessary business case. Any such case will then be assessed by my Department as a matter of priority.
