My Department allocates funding to SOLAS from both the Exchequer and the National Training Fund (NTF) to deliver Further Education and Training (FET) programmes and services through the 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs) and other agencies throughout the country.

For 2025, a total of €1.152 billion is allocated to SOLAS from my Department, comprising of circa. €550 million of Exchequer funding and circa. €602 million NTF funding (excluding capital).

SOLAS distributes funding to ETBs in the form of grants, which includes funding from the NTF, every two months. To date, SOLAS has drawn down approximately €520 million from the NTF for the delivery of FET and apprenticeship programmes.

SOLAS will continue to provide funding to ETBs, including non-apprenticeship NTF funding, in line with the agreed funding profile and approved ETB allocations.
