My immediate priority following the publication of the Thomas Audit was to ensure that there was clinical follow-up and care for patients who had undergone pelvic osteotomy surgery. This is a once-off review to assess complications and determine current clinical state. After this, patients enter the recommended normal follow up process.

These multi-disciplinary team clinics have been underway since June 6 for clinical reviews of patients who had osteotomy surgery in CHI at Temple Street and Cappagh.

The number of appointments in relation to these clinics is an operational matter and I have asked the HSE to reply directly to the Deputy.

Separately, in relation to retrospective reviews of cases to determine the indications for surgery, the HSE is establishing a separate process, involving external experts. Work to establish this External Expert Panel (EEP) is advancing.
