It is a top priority for the Department of Health and the HSE to ensure that overcrowding in the Emergency Department (ED) of Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda and in EDs nationwide is kept to a minimum, particularly as the health service enters its traditionally busiest period of the year.
The 2025-2026 UEC Plan seeks to build on the success of the 2024-25 Plan which saw a reduction of 10% in the numbers of people waiting on trolleys from January to July in 2025 compared to the same period the previous year.
The 2025-2026 Plan can be distilled into 2 overarching categories:
* National Priorities: Universal actions and priorities, focused on achieving operational excellence, optimising resources, and reducing delayed transfers of care (DTOC) nationally.
* Operational Actions: Specific and detailed measures designed to support and enable regions in meeting UEC KPI targets.
As this question refers specifically to Our Lady Of Lourdes Drogheda, and is a service matter, I have asked the HSE to respond to the deputy directly.
