On January 29, the Government, upon the nomination of the Taoiseach, formally appointed Ministers of State and assigned their responsibilities. In respect of my Department, Hildegarde Naughton TD has been appointed Minister of State with special responsibility for Disability.
The delegation of certain disability functions to a Minister of State reflects the Government’s commitment to ensuring the provision of services and supports for people with disabilities.
The following statutory functions have been delegated to this role -

- Disability Act 2005 (other than section 31 and 32A)
- Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015
- Irish Sign Language Act 2017
- Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) (Amendment) Act 2022
