955. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will consider reopening applications for the forgotten farmer scheme, in view of the many cases where a forgotten farmer who meets the criteria was unaware of the application process until after the summer 2025 deadline had passed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The application window for the scheme to support Long Established Young Farmers, more commonly referred to as forgotten farmers, has closed. The scheme was widely flagged in the farming media and was open for just over 3 weeks from July to receive applications. During that period my Department also issued text message reminders to potential applicants whose applications were still in draft.
The window to submit applications closed at 5:30pm on 13th August 2025. There are no plans to extend the deadline.
