The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of Garda business under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024, this includes all operational matters.

In relation to the specific information sought by the Deputy, I am advised by the Garda authorities that it is not possible to provide a count of the number of incidents linked to the Protective Services Unit within the DMR West in 2023, 2024 & 2025 YTD.

I am informed that the Garda Pulse system does not contain a ‘structured field’ which links incidents to Divisional Protective Services Units. While a broad, yet specific, range of incidents are linked to the Protective Services portfolio, it is not always possible for all such incidents to remain under the investigation of Protective Services teams for a variety of reasons, including resourcing constraints, and therefore it is not possible to provide an account of the number of incidents requested.
