I propose to take Questions Nos. 911, 912, 913, 914, 915 and 916 together.
An Garda Síochána publishes data on the allocation of Gardaí by Division, Station and rank. This can be found at the following link:
www.garda.ie/en/about-us/our-departments/human-resources-and-people-development/garda-hr-directorate/garda-strength-breakdown-2025/.
The Deputy should select the Garda Workforce figures for July and access the file titled “Garda Members by Division District Station 2009 to 31 July 2025” for a breakdown of Gardaí by Garda station and division going back to 2009.
The Deputy can also use the link provided for a breakdown of Community Gardaí by Garda division going back to 2008 by selecting the Garda Workforce figures for July and accessing the file titled “Community Garda by Division 2008 to 31 of July 2025".
The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution and stationing of Garda personnel throughout the State under Section 33 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024. As Minister, I have no role in these independent functions.
However, I am assured by the Commissioner that personnel assigned throughout the country, together with the overall policing arrangements and operational strategies are continually monitored and reviewed. Such monitoring ensures that optimum use is made of resources, and the best possible policing service is provided to the general public.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 917 and 920 together.
The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána under Section 33 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024. This includes all operational policing matters such as the allocation and deployment of resources available to him. I engage regularly with him to ensure An Garda Síochána have the resources they need.
Road traffic legislation is enforced as part of the day-to-day duties of members of An Garda Síochána, as well as through a programme of high-visibility road safety and enforcement operations carried out in partnership with other state agencies, in order to make our roads safer for all.
The below table, provided by the Garda authorities outlines the amount An Garda Síochána spent on purchasing new 'No Parking Cones’ in 2024 and to date in 2025.
Year | COST OF CONES € (EXC VAT) | COST OF CONES € (INC VAT) |
---|---|---|
2024 | 116,700 | 143,541 |
2025 | 4,800 | 5,904 |
