On 15 July 2025, the Justice and Home Affairs Council unanimously agreed to extend Temporary Protection (TP) by a year until March 2027, thereby providing certainty for Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BoTP) who can continue to avail of the protections that the Directive provides during this time.

The Department is currently experiencing a large volume of applications. Once the Temporary Protection is renewed, applicants will receive an acknowledgement email with their OTPR number (application number). This means that their submission has been received and is being processed.

Their current TP Permission is still valid until a decision has been made on their application for renewal.

An information notice is available which may be shown to the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS).
