To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if applications for international protection (asylum) have been received from nationals of the United States of America; if so, the grounds cited in such applications; the number of applications received in the past two years; and whether any of these applications have been granted. I would like to assure the Deputy that it is a priority to ensure that international protection applications are processed efficiently and effectively, while ensuring the integrity of those processes is maintained at all times.
It would not be appropriate to disclose the reasons a person may apply for international protection.
The table below shows the number of international protection applications from the United States of America from 2017 to 9 September 2025.
