I propose to take Questions Nos. 848 and 862 together.
I am advised by An Garda Síochána that the following table provides a count of unique incidents where a child was referred by An Garda Síochána to Tusla, the Family & Child Agency for the 2014 to 2024 period.
Year Reported | Incident Type | Number of Incidents |
---|---|---|
2014 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 13,101 |
2015 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 15,500 |
2016 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 17,091 |
2017 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 21,897 |
2018 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 23,513 |
2019 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 26,655 |
2020 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 30,694 |
2021 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 32, 854 |
2022 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 30,010 |
2023 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 32,836 |
2024 | Formal Notification to Tusla | 32,519 |
I am also advised that a child may be associated with more than one notification incident during the course of a single reporting year and/or across multiple reporting years.
