I have engaged with Uisce Éireann on its request for additional funding to support reaching our new housing targets as part of the NDP process.

The Government published the updated National Development Plan in July 2025, with unprecedented levels of investment, to secure Ireland's future, unlock housing, upgrade water and energy infrastructure, deliver more roads, and provide better public transport.

This included €12.2 billion for the water sector. The multi-annual allocations of this investment including to Uisce Éireann have not been decided yet and will be agreed as part of the Budget 2026 process.

It’s important to note that Uisce Éireann has statutory responsibility for all aspects of water services planning, delivery and operation at national, regional and local levels. The scope, prioritisation and progression of individual projects and operational issues is a matter for Uisce Éireann and is approved through its own Board and internal governance structures. As Minister, I have no function in relation to operational matters or specific projects.
