My Department is committed to supporting thriving communities across the country through a range of funding initiatives. With regard to County Louth, my Department has allocated over €6 million in funding in 2023, €10 million in funding in 2024, and €6 million in funding to date in 2025.

My Department's capital schemes are of particular importance in this regard. Some examples of relevant capital funding approvals in recent years include:

  • The upgrade and development of community centres in areas including Ardee, Drogheda and Dundalk under the Community Centre Investment Fund;
  • Support for projects in Carlingford, Dunleer and Drogheda and the Community Recognition Fund;
  • Funding for the enhancement of public spaces and community infrastructure in towns and villages like Tullyallen, Darver and Collon under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, and;
  • Approval for funding for 124 projects across the county under the Local Enhancement Programme 2025, which provides funding for small capital projects to improve community facilities.
With regard to current funding supports, the Community Services Programme provides funding for community-based organisations to deliver vital services and create employment. In addition, the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme is providing nearly €2 million to Louth in 2025, with a focus on tackling social exclusion and supporting employment readiness.

Details of the thousands of funding allocations my Department has provided each year, across the country, including County Louth, are available on my Department’s website, in tabular form at the following link: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-rural-and-community-development-and-the-gaeltacht/collections/funding-allocated-by-the-department/.
